True Worship
Much like making the decision to live a life of repentance takes a lifetime commitment, so does living a life of worship. Almighty God is a very jealous God and He desires us to worship Him in everything we do. Many Christians think that the hour and half spent on Sunday mornings gets us by, but truthfully He wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth in all things.
Christ talks about worship when He addresses the Samaritan woman at the well in the book of John Chapter 4:
But the time is coming - indeed it's here now - when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24, NLT)
I believe God wants us to simply get to know Him when we worship Him. So how do we become true worshipers? We start by spending time with Him by talking and listening to Him through daily prayer. We get away without any distractions and read His word. We intently focus and reflect on what He is trying to teach us. We sing and speak our praises for what He has done and is going to do for us each day. We let down the walls of distrust and get beyond the masks we use in life and share all that we have and all that we are. We simply thank Him for loving us so much more than we love ourselves.
That is true worship. That is what our God wants us to do...give Him everything.
